Fear serves as an important alarm system, warning or preparing us for impending danger. Yet fear can also paralyze us, causing us to freeze when we should fight or flee. There are 2 categories of fear> beneficial and harmful. In other words, fear can be friend or foe!
Grace is the love of God, but what is grace? Grace is un-merited favor. Every day you wake up, you are demonstrating the grace of God. God gives us life each day even though we might not really deserve it. Regardless of your intellect, your financial status, or your social status, it is about the grace of God. Just the mere fact that you still have your intellect and have not lost your mind, is an example of the grace of God
I am thrilled and honored to bring this Sermon this morning. We have come a long way the past few months. The devil threw all he had at us last year. He came in like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. He made as much noise as he possibly could. Yet, we have stood with the Help and Grace of God. There is a message that we need to hear and understand this morning as we march boldly into the battfild. We need to be careful and understand that the devil will begin to change his tactics and come against the Church. He has only departed for a season. I believe God would have us in position to understand what is still before us.
The fascinating love story in Solomon’s song contains many intriguing pictures. One is of a beautiful vineyard in early spring. The vines, however, are threatened by little foxes that come in to eat the tender grapes before they are ripe. Thus comes the plea to capture (“take”) the foxes and prevent them from spoiling the vineyard. An obvious spiritual application is to the subtle danger of so-called “little sins” that undermine a believer’s love and service for his Lord. If it goes unchecked it gives the adversary just enough room to come in an destroy the vines.
Solomon calls to our attention that it is the little foxes that spoil the vine. This appears to be a warning to you and me. It is the little things in life that get us down — minute – microscopic that commence to destruct our homes – destroy our relationships — stagnate our local churches. Perhaps we spend necessary time praying and are prepared when Satan enters as a roaring Lion, we are equipped with our spiritual armour, we expect that – However, when Satan arrives as a Little Fox – little situation – we find we are not adequately prepared. I know that sounds like a Contradiction, but I encourage you to stay with me this morning.
We are creatures of habit. We recognize the power of doing things over and over again. Some of our habits are good and some are bad, but all of us know we are creatures. As believers it is important for us to we try to chart a good course concerning our habits. Many of you have made up a list for this year. Our assignment today is to make you understand how to make that list practical.
When you look at how water flows through a canyon, you see that it flows constantly. The more the water flows the deeper the river becomes. Habits are the same way. The longer we continue a pattern of behavior, the deeper we get off in them. The issue is how do we change certain habits or behavior? Paul says in Ephesians 4:22-24: 22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.- On one hand we have this old man. This is the one we try to change and on the other hand we are standing in between the old man and what the new man will be. We are putting our self into position so that the new man can come to fruition. We have to recognize that it is the spirit of the mind. Whatever we try to change has to begin by changing our mind. Your mentality determines your morality. Get a person to change their mind then you can change their behavior. 2 Timothy 3:16-17:16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.- This word helps us chart a course that a mature person may have good habits or good nature. Without the word of God, no change can happen. You have to recognize the power of the word of God being part of the change process.
6 steps to change
– The gifts and the calling 1. Embrace the fact that you are called and gifted. We could talk all day about your gifts never going away, but that won’t help if you never thought of yourself as gifted or called in the first place. So often in Church World we limit our view […]
